Why so serious??? So I've found myself being president of the Film Society this year, so what does that mean? Well as the film society we write about, watch, and make films. In my first year I was co-head of film-making and as such got familiar with the Union and way the society was run. Due to my involvement on the Union side I found myself in a suitable position to take over the society. I say take over, but in essence it means I represent our members and committee to the Union and make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. I'm proud of what we've done so far, and I have my amazing committee to thank for that. We have had twice the money this year as last, and have already bought a second camera, and printed more copies of the Big-lens than last year. Best of all we have this great new website. If there is anything else you guys want or need from the society just give me a shout.
Favourite films? Don't ask, I like too many!
Teebs (n): A third year film student often found editing BigLens magazines and scuffling around bins and treasurer BenTen. Allegedly also the Vice-President. Suspects he may be Charlie Chaplin's Tramp and is deeply and spiritually in love with WALL-E. Wishes he could be Bob Dylan during the Cate Blanchett years.
Hello! I am in my second year of my Film Studies degree, and obviously I love film enough to have bagged myself a committee position. I am the designer of BigLens (the magazine created by members of the Film Society), which involves finding some nice pictures, and fiddling the layout around so everyone's articles look interesting and cool. This is my first year of being a committee member and I have found it to be a hell of a lot of fun!
Often called Sushi
I send out pesky emails
And quite like haikus
I am a second year film student and I like films, I am the TREASURER on the committee. People call me Ben 10 cos I look like him and my name is Ben! MAINSTREAM FILMS ARE GREAT :)
Hey Everyone,
My name's Samuel (a.k.a Sam, Sammy, Simon, Norman the list goes on) I'm in my second year and I study Drama and Film Studies. I'm in the Head of Film Making for the society. It's my job to make sure the society is pumping out some student films and to ensure that the next generation of film makers are equipped to do so.
So if you want to make a film but don't know how, or just need help to see your vision created on screen then give me a shout and I'll try my best to help you out.
Hey Kids! I am in my third and final year of my English and American Literature and Film Degree, which inevitably means I will be replaced by a new and younger model! However, as the remake of the Italian job proved, it will not necessarily be a good thing!! I am the Don of the DVD library, which is a little bit like being God but more like working at a dvd rental store! My abilities have continued to transcend, empowering me to be your ... dun dun dunnnn ......screenings programmer (You'll have to do an impression of Christoper Biggins for the "dun dun dunn" to work successfully)!!!! I love film and have loved my two years of being on the film committee! If you have any questions or suggestions about the screenings or the DVD library get in contact, and I will be happy to help!! See y'all soon!! xxx
I'm the new recruit to the Film Society and got the job of building and maintaining all that you see around you. I'm an average film fan, drawn mostly to sci-fi films and action/adventures. My top five favourite films are:
Other than that, I'm a second-year student studying Computer Science on a 4-year course. I'm fluent in Java, have enough knowledge of HTML and PHP, some MySQL skills and want to learn C++. I'm a devout Mac user - my main computer is now a MacBook Pro. Most of the website was written on my PowerBook G4. The site is written mostly in HTML but the interactive stuff is PHP. Amazing how useful the course comes in sometimes, eh? You'll find me around either the KentFilm forums or the internet in general under the name Gargravarr; don't be afraid to say hello!
In my free time, I write sci-fi and fantasy novels, I play electric guitar and keyboard and enjoy video games like Guitar Hero, Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Brütal Legend and Halo. I'm also an avid UT2004 gamer.
Oh, and just in case people are interested, I run my own webserver from home off a modified Xbox Original console running Linux - these things are pretty capable! No guarantees it's up and running, but check out gargravarr.boldlygoingnowhere.org.
